What’s been happening:

Michael Charles Petak brought in the new year of 1948; he is the first baby born on January 1, 1948, at the Berwick Hospital in Berwick, PA. He is the son of Frank, Sr. and (late) Helen (Ligosh) Petak. I graduated from Berwick High School class of 1965; being a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Men's Chorus and choir. I graduated from Penn State University in 1969; being a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity, Circle K International, and Belle-Lettre Society. I'm a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association. Earlier in my career I taught in the Berwick Area School District and Kennard-Dale High School (Southeastern School District). I retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue as a tax examiner after 30 years of service. I'm active in the Retired PA State Employees Association; The Retired AFSCME PA; and I'm a long time member of the Elk's Club. I'm a lifelong member of the Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church in Berwick, PA. Serving in the Altar Society. In my retirement I'm a volunteer aide at the annual senior exposition at the Hershey Lodge. Served as a judge at National History Day in the junior performance category at Penn State and in the junior performance category at Millersville University; served as a senior citizen witness for the PA State Lottery.
